Baking Slump

Ok I’m going to say it, I’m in a massive baking slump. The thing that makes it worse is I don’t know why?

I shouldn’t be, I always enjoy making cakes and stepping into the kitchen to essentially de-stress but for two months now I have hardly baked anything. Except that is my monthly challenge, and that makes me sad to be honest.

Note, I have also made a fruit loaf, which is when I thought I got my mojo back but nope it went again.

Right this moment, I have just gotten into bed after a near 5 hour stint standing in the kitchen trying to make my February challenge and I’m frustrated. I’m pretty sure I’m old before my time because all of my muscles ache, my legs, my feet, my back. All from standing and continuously baking for that length of time and I don’t like it. Baking (for me) should be joyful, not to the point where i’m exhausted because I have stood up for too long.

So basically this is me asking for any tips. I think I want to do ‘easy’ cakes to get me into the spirit. I love making cupcakes so think I might start there. If you have any tips then please do share them because I’m finding it really hard to shake this slump and I don’t like it.

Sorry for the slightly different post this weekend, I have (as you know) just finished making my 12MonthBakeOffChallenge so that will be up soon. I would have posted it tomorrow, however it has to set fully so can’t try it right now. Pray I have the layers required!

Until next time,

George x

If it makes you feel better: I’ve just got back into baking after a two-year hiatus. And with good reason – I dropped a knife in the gas oven flame – and left it burning! Never again.
