Treacle Steamed Pudding

So as you may have seen, I have been followed the GBBO weekly challenge. This is where I baked along with the TV show just for fun really.

I did this last year and I really enjoyed it and this year it has been just as rewarding!

I wanted to talk to you a bit about one of my bakes. For week 4 of the challenge, I made Millionaire shortbread. I ended up using a mixture of recipes and therefore wanted to combine the two to help demonstrate how I got to the end result.

My 2017 Great British Bake Off Challenge – Round Up

So this is is, The Great British Bake Off has ended for another year and I thought it was time to take a look back at all of the bakes I have made this year to see how it has helped me get back into the kitchen more. Truth be told, I have loved it….

Week Ten – Iced Ginger Biscuits

Week Ten aka the Final. I can’t believe that its all over and there will be no more Tuesday night bake off. This also means the end of my weekly challenges, which I have grown to love. It was a challenging week in the tent, but we all knew it would be. The bakers were…

October Wrap Up

OK October – where did you go? Its like I have blinked and you decided to race past. I have however done a LOT of baking this month, which I am happy about. I love how Bake off being on the tv gets me all involved and happy. However saying that my reading has taken…

Week Nine – Orange Craquelin Choux Buns

Week Nine in the tent was Semi Final week. I can’t believe how quick it has all gone. Who will be crowned this year’s winner – we will soon find out because (ideally) you should be reading this on the day of the final. I could make a guess to the winner – but I…

Week Eight – Cumberland Rum Nicky

Week Eight in the tent was a sad week, and if I am honest it is one in which I feel will be remembered for a while. You see, Liam got kicked out the tent and I loved Liam. He was just full of energy so I hope he keeps baking. Anyhow, he didn’t have…

Week Seven – Pizza

Week Seven in the tent brought us Italian week. Now I have to be honest, I was not excited for Italian week and being even more honest now I wasn’t impressed by it either. I was disappointed for the first time this year. Sad news. It just didn’t excite me, to me the whole point…

Week Six – Chicken, Bacon and Mushroom Pie

Week Six in the tent brought us Pastry week. Little old me was thinking it would be full of sweet treats but boy was I wrong as two of the challenges were savoury. This got me thinking and so I decided I wanted to make a savoury pie as I had only made one once…

September Wrap Up

So September – where did you go? One minute you were here and the next you weren’t, but its ok you left us with Autumn so I am ok with that. I just love this time of year and the colours it brings! Baking The Bake Off returned late August and so returned my weekly…

Week Five – Steamed Pudding

Week Five in the tent meant it was Pudding week. Which really sounds like the best week Β ever to be in the tent, button hind sight I thought it was a bit dull in terms of challenges. Personal opinion of course. This may be because I didn’t have to think hard about what I wanted…

Week Four – Millionaire Shortbread

Week Four in the tent brought us Caramel Week! Now I can’t remember watching a caramel week before it was so good to watch! A proper challenge and I for one loved this week. I have never made caramel from scratch before and even though I don’t think the caramel I made is classed as…

Week Three – Cottage Loaf

Week Three in the tent brought us Bread Week! I love bread and the smell of it baking in the oven, but I must admit that it pains me how long it takes to make! It is one of the reasons why I like making cakes more. Bread week as ever proved to be another…
